Tabcorp’s South East Queensland Casinos (Conrad Jupiters and Conrad Treasury) and PokerStars.net announced that the first season of the PokerStars.net Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour will culminate in Queensland, Australia this August 5-9. This historic event will be the first time a major poker tournament has ever been held in the state of Queensland.

The first two days of the event will be played simultaneously across two venues over two days, in both Brisbane’s Conrad Treasury casino and the Gold Coast’s Conrad Jupiters casino. The tournament will conclude at Conrad Jupiters casino on Sunday, August 9 and spectators are welcome to watch the eventual Champion emerge victorious.

The buy-in for ANZPT Queensland is $2,500 AUD and participation will be capped at 300 players. It is expected to sell-out, with a total prize pool of approximately $750,000 AUD.

The ANZPT has a unique “Overall Points Championship” which rewards the most consistently-excellent player over all events each season, similar to “player of the year” systems for other sporting leagues. Points are awarded to players for every event they enter, with additional points being awarded depending on the position they finish in each ANZPT event. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 players, with first place providing the ultimate opportunity to be the next “Poker Star” – a one-year PokerStars.net sponsorship package to the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) and the Aussie Millions, with a value estimated at $60,000! The first Overall Points Champion of the inaugural ANZPT will be announced at the conclusion of the ANZPT Queensland tournament. And it’s a race that will be watched closely, with Tony Hachem of Melbourne and Chris Levick of Sydney currently within 5 points of each other after 3/5 of the season.

All Aussies and Kiwis can be in the running to battle it out in each event, with free to play qualifiers on PokerStars.net. International players are also welcome.

Freerolls will take place on PokerStars.net in the lead up to the PokerStars.net ANZPT Queensland. All finalists will receive accommodation packages at Conrad Treasury or Conrad Jupiters.

This event will follow the PokerStars.net ANZPT Queenstown, New Zealand event running from July 20 – 25.
